Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative disease of the brain that causes thinking and memory to become badly impaired. Alzheimer’s disease takes you from intellectual and social abilities and gets in the way your typical life. In the present day, there are about 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease. This usually affects seniors over the age of 65. As the population is aging the number of Alzheimer’s disease victims is expected to quadruple as well.

For all we know so well, Alzheimer’s disease has no cure yet. Yes, there is development being made by researchers to improve the quality of life for those who have Alzheimer’s. On the other hand, drugs are being discovered and studied which may lead to treatments of this incurable disease.

Wood-Burning Fireplaces & Air Pollution

Wood-burning fireplaces are becoming more and more popular all over the place in the world. Well, who wouldn’t like to do such thing so? Unexplainably, it is somewhat romantic and soothing about sitting in front of a fireplace, hearing the fizz of the timber, and gazing at the flickering flames. Along with the soaring fossil fuel prices, a lot of people believe that it's less expensive to burn up wood for heat especially during winter time. However, many researches showed that Central Heating is in general the most resourceful and most inexpensive method to heat up. There are many people believe as well that burning wood is better for the environment seeing as wood is a renewable resource; on the other hand, as said by the EPA or Environmental Protection Agency, wood burning is not good for the environment. In fact, wood results in high levels of air pollution that can deteriorate the environment and your health as well.

According to Dr. Wayne Ott of Stanford University, the largest single source of outdoor fine particles entering into our homes in many American cities is our neighbor's fireplace or wood stove. As being said, we can also harm our neighborhood’s welfare.

Chemicals Composed with Wood Smoke

The smoke of wood contains many of the same chemicals as cigarette smoke, as well as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, perilous metals, and known carcinogens such as formaldehyde, dioxin, benzene, and toluene and these chemicals possibly can be fatal. Breathing in wood smoke looks as if to be even more hazardous than breathing in cigarette smoke. An EPA study reckoned that breathing wood smoke particles at some point in high pollution days is the same to smoking 4 to 16 cigarette sticks. Today, medical studies have associated air pollution with lung cancer, heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, congenital heart defects, asthma, and even brain damage. Asthma victims, diabetics, congenital heart failure patients, and children are the common people most in danger for damage from air pollution.

Dr. Ramierez-Venegas of the UK gives explanation about biomass or simply wood smoke. This is composed of a quite equal combination of coarse and ultra-fine particles and can go through deeply into the lung that produces a variety of morphologic and biochemical changes. Joel Schwartz of EPA points out as well that Mammalian lungs don’t have defenses against small particles. "Particulate pollution is the most important contaminant in our air... We know that when particle levels go up, people die”, he added.

Steps to Avoiding Wood Burning

It is best of course to avoid burning wood for the benefit of your family, your neighbors, and the environment naturally, but if in the event you have to; you can take some steps to restrict your exposure to the air pollution. First thing to do is make sure your fireplace is working as it should be with an adequate draft. Second is tightly sealed doors in front of the fireplace block out much pollution. Third is don't burn scrap or treated wood, and make sure your wood has been splintered and dried out for at least six months. Fourth is, use small pieces of wood. Small, hot fires exude less pollution than fiery fires.

There are many air purifiers that are specifically designed to deal with the air pollution from smoke. For instance, Blueair air purifiers are available with SmokeStop Filters. The AllerAir 5000 DS air purifier is designed to absorb smoke, tar, fine dust and other particulates carried by the wind. What’s more is the IQAir Multigas air purifier takes away a wide spectrum of gases and particulates, as well as smoke. If you want to divest yourself of the odor from smoke, try the smoke odor eliminator.

VOCs & Indoor Air Quality

Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs are a major concern for indoor air pollution today. EPA reckons levels of some common noxious wastes to be two to five times higher inside our homes than outdoors. You’ve most likely heard of these chemicals if you've ever shopped for an air purifier. But do you have an idea what these chemicals are? This write-up is going to inform you a bit about VOCs of what they are, where they derive from, and how to divest yourself of them.

What is VOC, by the way?

VOC represents for Volatile Organic Compound. The Organic part indicates they contain carbon, and Volatile indicates they disperse easily at room temperature. Chemicals like benzene, toluene, methylene, chloride, formaldehyde, and many others are just the same with VOCs. The exposure to VOCs can cause warning signs like nose and throat irritation, allergic skin reactions, asthma attacks, headaches, and nausea according to the EPA. They can cause more serious health problems the more you get high enough exposures.

Where these VOC’s derived from?

A wide variety of household products are where the VOC’s can be found. Just try to look under the kitchen or bathroom sink and you will possibly discover many substances which give off some kind of VOC. VOCs can be found as well as in products as omnipresent as paints, varnishes, cleaning supplies, new floor coverings and furniture, perfumes and air fresheners, glues and adhesives, antiseptics, and all other sources. Now you can see that greater amount of VOC’s can be found inside our homes.

How to Avoid VOC’s?

Apparently, VOCs cannot be detached from our homes entirely. It happens that they are basically a part of modern life. On the other hand, I have here several steps to cut down VOC exposure to a safer and healthier lifestyle.

1. Limit the usage of your air fresheners, fabric conditioners, window cleaning fluids, sprays and aerosols, and dry cleaning; this can help reduce VOC exposure inside our homes.

2. Avoid using insect repellents inside the house as much as possible.

3. Try to find products with no scents or colorings, or products for sensitive skin.

4. Try to find paints that are tagged "low-VOC" and try to use water-based paints and sealants when painting.

5. Don't mix up household care or cleaning products unless directed on the label of the product.

6. Circulate air well as using coat or coat strippers, harsh cleaners, and any other smelly products.

7. If you have unused containers of these products sitting or just scattering around better throw them away because even closed containers can give away gases. Make sure you divest yourself of them securely.

8. Buy in a small quantity that you will use right away for products you only use rarely or seasonally.

9. Let new furnishings or furniture circulate air for a moment before bringing them into the home or better yet, make sure that the room they will be in is appropriately ventilated.

10. As dust is a great absorbent for VOCs, so removing dust can help reduce exposure, Use a creased filter in your heating system or run an air purifier.

11. Air purifiers with specifically blended carbon filters can take away VOCs from the air as well inside our homes.

How Portable Air Purifiers Work

Over the past several years, there is greater than ever scientific evidence that indoor air can extremely become more polluted than of outdoor with focuses from 2 to 5 times to in so far as 100 times those found from outdoors. Provided that majority use up about to 90% of their time indoors, this only indicates that the health dangers caused by polluted indoor air may be drastically more than those of outdoor air pollution. Isn’t it hard to believe?

Basically, air purifiers are intended to take away any pollutants and contaminants from indoor air. The types of indoor air pollutants that can be abridged or controlled by portable air purifiers fall into three major sets such as particulate, gaseous and biological.

Particulate Air Pollutants in Indoor Air

The greatest concerns are those that are small enough to stay behind suspended in room air for extended periods, where they may be easily breathed in, are called the particles. And these small particles can get to the deepest niches of the lungs somewhere they can grow to lodge for extended sort of times that basically causing severe or chronic effects.

“Particle” refers to the size of the pollutant and particle pollutants include the following; solids, liquids (which in the form of hazes), organic and inorganic compounds, living and inactive organisms.

As you might expect, these small particles could cause a wide range of extremely harmful health effects such as, provoked asthma, severe respiratory warning signs including irritated coughing and aching or difficult breathing, as well as eye, nose, and throat irritation, respiratory infections and chronic bronchitis slowed down lung function, gasping of breath and lung cancer possibly as said by the U.S. EPA.

These very small particles may include all kinds of allergens, counting a dust mite discharge that contains an allergen that is considered to be liable for a major percentage of allergies worldwide for allergy victims. Severe and even critical allergic reactions can be triggered as well by larger particles such as pollens, some molds and animal dander that may not infuse as deeply into the lungs.

The most important matter to asthma victims are by having the cleanest possible indoor air. Too much exposure to different allergens and other indoor pollutants may have affected asthma attack patients.

Lung Damaging Particles or LDPs are the health effects from particles small enough to be respirable. LDPs are dependent upon the types of particles in the environment, of whether how concentrated they are or how often and/or how long a person is exposed to them and the person's sensitivity.

Gaseous Air Pollutants in Indoor Air

There are many different types of gaseous pollutants that have been found in indoor air as well. These types are combustion gases, such as from tobacco smoke, combustion appliances such as heaters and stoves or from vehicle exhaust that come into the living space from attached garages or from outdoors either.

Moreover, gases enter indoor air from a wide range of sources such as building materials, furniture, cleaning compounds, air fresheners, coats, adhesives and glues, solvents, metal cleats, personal care products, insect repellents, waxes, craft and pastime materials, deodorizers, cooking, and the metabolism of plants, animals and humans as well.

Similar to particles, the health effect from exposure to gaseous pollutants depends also upon the chemicals and their concentrations, of whether how often and how long a person is exposed to these pollutants and the person's sensitivity. There are adverse health effects that may occur with gaseous pollutants and these include allergic reactions, asthma attacks, irritation of the eyes and/or respiratory tissues, effects on the liver and the respiratory, immune, cardiovascular, reproductive and/or nervous systems and cancer by far.

Biological Pollutants in Indoor Air

Biological pollutants are the living organisms in the indoor surroundings. There are a wide range of organic noxious wastes in indoor air including dust mites and their fecal discharges, animal dander, cat saliva, molds, mildew, microbes, pollen, viruses, bacteria, and all that. These biological pollutants originate from several sources such as plants, animals and humans and indoor air it can be quite persistent.

Many of these pollutants can be small enough to be breathed in and can formulate the health problems due to respirable particles as been described above, whereas others can cause allergic reactions or can be infectious or noxious in the environment.

On the whole, the many biological pollutants in indoor air, the more chances can create a wide variety of harmful health effects. And these include triggering allergic reactions and asthma attacks; the transmission of infectious diseases such as respiratory tract infection, measles and chicken pox; molds and mildews may possibly discharge disease-causing contaminants and biological pollutants may possibly cause numerous warning signs of vague health effects that possibly will include coughing, sneezing, soggy eyes, breath gasping, dizziness, digestive difficulties, fever and abnormal drowsiness.

Poisonous microorganisms may also produce at home, heating and cooling systems and humidifiers and cause very serious sicknesses such as humidifier fever and Legionella and very serious sicknesses such as tuberculosis, measles, staphylococcal infections, and influenza which are known to be passed on through air.

Information of Alzheimer’s disease for the Patients and Families

As we all know well, Alzheimer’s is a disease that implications are still being felt with millions of people around the world caught in its grasp. Creeping in and slowly removing an individual’s ability to remember, function and even recall their own family and friends, this situation is such a horrible thing that can crash not only the affected patients, but also everybody around them unfortunately. With this, it is very important for people faced with this kind of condition to equip themselves with solid Alzheimer’s disease information and relevant facts.

Regardless of its prevalent reach, there are a lot of mythologies that encases Alzheimer’s. As having right Alzheimer’s disease information, this won't likely provide a family with the relief it may be need following a diagnosis, it can any way help them better recognize the condition and what to expect with Alzheimer’s disease though. Sorting out the fact from the fiction is very significant for those who need to make decisions about future care and probable treatments and cures.

Take a look at some of the mythologies that at times prevent the real Alzheimer’s disease information from dodging;

* Loss of Memory is just normal. Yes, it may be normal to become a little forgetful at times as we grow old, but serious loss of memory is no longer normal. Whichever severe loss of memory, such as that related with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, is not normal under any condition.

* Aluminum causes Alzheimer’s. Evidently, there is no known cause for this condition for the real Alzheimer’s disease information to be had. There are some potential associations, but affirmation has not been done. Regarding to aluminum in particular, studies were not able to find out a real linkage between drinking out of cans and contracting Alzheimer’s. The respiratory tract infection blast gossip also may not seem to be factual.

* The condition is not deadly. This is a false part of Alzheimer’s disease information. Even as it is more possible that other conditions will occur that can be deadly ahead of the deterioration progresses to the parts of the brain that control major bodily functions, the disease is well thought-out deadly in and of itself by many experts.

* Diet soda causes Alzheimer’s. This is another misleading notion. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been studying this assertion since some scientists raises concerns about NutraSweet and Equal, but no link has been found as of up till now.

* Alzheimer’s can be stopped in its succession. Sad to say, this is not true. Even as there are some treatments that might slow the steady rate of succession, preventing it is not possible at the moment. It might even be likely to even out a patient for a moment, but no treatments have confirmed effective over the long haul.

Alzheimer’s disease information available thus far doesn't provide a lot of answers for patients and their families that might be exerting to come to hang on with a diagnosis. The truth is that, there is still a lot to learn about this condition and with how small is really identified, many mythologies seem to succeed.

Alzheimer’s disease patients and their families with queries and concerns should ask for medical advice. There are even some very good support groups for those impacted by such inexplicable and distressing condition.

Alzheimer’s Diagnosis

We all know so well that Alzheimer’s disease is difficult to diagnose. Still up till now, the only certain method of Alzheimer’s diagnosis is made after the patient's death through brain biopsies. While this is a certain method, it is totally nostalgic just like an autopsy. What are we needed for real are highly developed tests and markers in the future.

The conventional working method for Alzheimer’s diagnosis by a process of elimination is done with living patients. They thoroughly test for and eliminate each of the many aspects that could possibly be responsible for the visible, behavior-related warning signs. In the event that these possibilities are eliminated, then Alzheimer’s is the only remaining possibility and a diagnosis can be done.

Many researchers have been experiencing hardships at work developing methods and markers for early and certain detection of the early stages of the Alzheimer’s process of neurological degeneration. The target was to find Markers, be it biochemical, genetic or physical, with high link to the inception and succession of this disease.

The target is basically to know how to see it coming and measure its succession, so that various new treatments can be started as early as possible. For this reason, their effects on the disease in the patient can be measured to test effectiveness, to try different doses and then measure the results on it.

Genetic indicators have been found, biomarkers are being developed and brain scan technology is constantly improving. These important progresses are being made in the area of Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

* Genetic. There was a set of people at the Translational Genomics Research Institute in Phoenix, Arizona has found a gene called GAB2. You are at far higher risk of eventually developing Alzheimer's if you have a damaged version of it. The team is now functioning to build up a fast and simple test to detect the damaged gene.

It is better known that identification of the presence of the gene would make out people who are in danger for the disease shortly in their lives. Even before it starts, it may sooner or later help us to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease.

Biomarkers. Nanogen, Inc., in San Diego, California-based highly developed technology company works to provide researchers, clinicians and physicians with enhanced methods and apparatus to guess, make a diagnosis, and in due course facilitate to treat disease.

Early in 2007, Nanogen, Inc. declared having received two patents that relate to the identification of protein biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. They would have had to demonstrate something that is new, unique and that works to get a patent.

There are non-intrusive methods let physicians have a picture of the living brain itself. And these are; brain scan tests, such as computerized tomographies (CT) scan which is the most commonly used, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, or positron emission tomography (PET), along with Single Photon Emission CT (SPECT).

Owing to these scanning technologies, these enable health care professionals to see malfunctions within the brain. Even as these technologies made available for the professionals in helping Alzheimer’s diagnosis, they still exert effort to get and present good, clear pictures and information. On the other hand, these are constantly being improved.

But still the current level and intensity of the investigation, and the visible progress that is being made, are hopeful indications. With any luck we will have much better methods for early Alzheimer’s diagnosis and treatment in the long run.

Treatments of Asthma

Asthma is a recurring state involving the respiratory system in which the airways infrequently narrowed and become swollen making it difficult for air to flow into and out of the lungs. It is a disease of the lungs that basically involves breathing. The condition marked by recurring irritation and inflammation of the airways.

Basically, asthma is diagnosed based on a physical examination, personal record, and lung function examinations. Good evaluation is making the first step in diagnosing asthma. In the event that your child may have asthma is he or she breathe with difficulties, coughs and has trouble breathing. You should ask your physician if you see all of these warning signs.

Asthma is both a genetic and environmental disease according to studies. The most common form of asthma is allergic asthma. The IgE antibody is the real menace in causing allergic asthma. Allergic asthma is constantly triggered by coming in contact with allergens, weather condition changes, viral or sinus infections either.

In actual fact, the medical definition of asthma is just simple but the condition itself is relatively complex. Asthma is a recurring disease that needs constant medical care to monitor and deal with warning signs to put a stop to severe asthma attacks. Asthma patients must also be aware that nocturnal asthma is coupled with more severe disease and greater than before fatality. Asthma is a manageable but incurable disease and not a communicable disease. An important part of your life is taking care of your asthma.

Well then, what can you do to curing your asthma? Keeping a daily asthma diary is an important part of learning to control your asthma. You must need to have an asthma management chart, because asthma is a recurring disease that requires frequent management and appropriate treatments. Seek advice from your doctor to make an asthma management chart. You can lead an active and normal lifestyle if you follow your asthma management chart.

These days there are so many excellent treatments are available to help you to manage your asthma and maintain a warning sign-free life, thus you can go on an active lifestyle. There are some like to supplement the medication they take with more natural methods of controlling asthma. Take a note that these natural asthma treatments are a help not only to the infrequent infection, but to longer-term asthma and allergy sufferers as well. Treatments will aim to minimize the rate of recurrence, difficulty and duration of your asthma attacks. Our body has a natural hormone that will help to lessen the warning signs of asthma attacks. Yoga is an alternative treatment for asthma, this helps to control breathing and alleviate nervous tension and acupuncture to lessen asthma attacks and improve lung function. In the long run, these natural asthma treatments will possibly turn out to be very popular.

Always keep in mind that asthma may NOT be a curable disease, may NOT be a contagious disease, BUT a manageable disease. So an important part in your life today is taking care of your asthma before it worsens.

Best Mind Stimulating Activities for Dementia Sufferers

It is of the utmost importance that you know their likes and dislikes before you begin to design or use an activity with persons with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. You ought to know most their strengths and weaknesses. Knowledge of the persons' past life and experiences is also useful.

There are quite a lot of activities that can be prepared in parallel or in small groups with most, early to mid-stage, dementia individuals. These activities use a deck of playing cards and are particularly good for persons who love numbers, have worked with numbers, relate to numbers, like to play cards, or have played cards some time ago.

1. Sorting the cards; by suit, odd and even numbers, by colors or any original way that might be thought of a lower functioning dementia person might have the benefit of counting a group of cards. By some means just touching and looking at the cards reinstate pleasant reminiscences.

2. Matching- You will need two decks of cards to do the matching.

a. Give the dementia person a number of playing cards (more for those with early stage dementia. Two cards for those with significant memory challenges).

b. Then show her or him a card. See if she or he can pick the matching card.

c. You can see if he or she can go with a series of cards.

Here is one more game needing two decks of cards. In this game, you will need a number of people playing to have the most enjoyable. Pass out four cards (more for those with early stage dementia, less for those with significant memory challenges) to each person playing. Keep the cards face up. Pick a card from the second deck. Whoever has that card, will turn the card face down. The first person to turn all their cards over is the winner. You can also play a community game where there will be no winner.

3. Picking a number(s) of the day or week- Start small, pick only one number. Relate the number to something significant, for instance; if 2 is picked, you may say: We can recall 2 because we have 2 hands, 2 feet, and so on. Then when asking them to recall the number once in a while right through the day, you may say: It is the number of hands you have. In this case, some may tend to remember the number without any clue. However, some may not recall the number but recognize that a person has 2 hands. Either way connections are being made in the brain to replace the ones that have been missing.

PLAY SIMPLE CARD GAMES

Furthermore, you can play simple card games with the dementia victims. Here are a few suggestions;

1. War, Crazy eights, Old Maid (take 3 of the queens out of the deck), Go Fish, Twenty-one, or make up a game. This is the perfect chance to get children involved because dementia individuals love children. However, the children should be well-informed about dementia.

Always remember to put a positive viewpoint on everything no matter what games you play or exercises you do. Take in meaningful conversation all through the sessions. Dialogue is really important for the memory challenged person and place the emphasis on fun as well.

There are several books have been written about preventing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. And these books strongly put forward keeping the mind active.

By using a deck of cards, Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia victim are stimulated with this easy way to help their minds refreshed.

The Facts of Alzheimer’s Disease

Take a look at this, a member in your family has Alzheimer’s disease, and you’ve been gathering info about this incurable Alzheimer’s disease to help you make decisions of to do then, however everything you find is so scientific and difficult. How can you explain to your kids why their grandfather doesn’t recognize them any longer? An Alzheimer’s disease fact below is designed for the children and families to help them understand what Alzheimer’s is all about.

Alzheimer’s: What Is It?

Alzheimer’s disease is a form of a mental disorder known as dementia. Dementia is a brain disorder that seriously slow downs the brain’s ability to process normal thinking and slow downs the daily activities of its victims. Therefore, Alzheimer’s disease affects the part of the brain that is responsible for memory, thought, and language.

For the longest time, it was thought that nothing is possible to prevent this dreadful disease and that it was simply something that people had to expect when they reached their golden years. For all we know, Alzheimer’s disease steals from millions of people each year of their memories, their personalities, and the ability to fulfill day to day activities. On the other hand, new research points out that there are numerous techniques to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

Memory loss is the hallmark sign of Alzheimer’s disease. Generally, those 65 years of age or older start to worry themselves with this disease at the first stages of forgetfulness. Forgetfulness is even though a sign of Alzheimer’s disease, it is important to take notice of that there are other signs that may be a sign of the onset of this disease. Thus, being clued-up about Alzheimer’s through demonstrated indications, and is paramount for our loved one’s wellbeing as well as our own.

How to Deal With Alzheimer’s

It can be emotionally devastating moment in anyone’s life if you hear the news that a family member has received an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. However, the patient must go through various laboratory tests, such as medical assessments and laboratory measurements before the Alzheimer’s diagnosis can be given to the patient and their family. There is no single test existing that will categorically give the Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Diagnosticians have been able to work out a set of Alzheimer’s disease testing tools that can detect warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease in its earlier stages with this hands-on standpoint. Up till now, there is no single analytical test that is able to determine if a person does really have Alzheimer’s disease, but the succession of testing that is available makes it possible for physicians to diagnose it with about 90 % accuracy. To ensure accuracy and proper diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, the testing can take anywhere from one day to several weeks.

Sometimes an Alzheimer’s test isn’t necessary. But mostly an Alzheimer’s test is important to make certain that the person isn’t just undergoing the usual memory loss associated with aging. Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t just affect one’s memory; it can make them see things that aren’t there and even drive them into piercing hysterics.

If you are thinking of a loved one who is starting to experience other warning signs of dementia, you may want that person to go through Alzheimer’s testing for sure. Unluckily, there is no current ultimate test for Alzheimer’s disease that a person can go through. The only way doctors diagnose Alzheimer’s with 100% sureness is during physical test of the brain after the person’s death. What you want to try to find is some type of psychological and behavioral screening together with extensive tests to rule out other types of dementia more willingly than Alzheimer’s testing.

How to Live With Alzheimer’s

Living with Alzheimer’s can be a devastating experience for both the disease victim and the family involved. Along with are moments of misunderstanding or uncertainty for most and the warning signs can develop into exasperating and complicated. The memory loss and other related factors can often root immense separation in families and can create a tension on relationships which could not happen if you are involved and well-informed with information about this enigmatic disease.

Having someone with Alzheimer’s to take care can be an intimidating task. You will need to have all of the support you can acquire all the way, along with the most recent and most important Alzheimer’s info and research. It could be a confusing moment in time, and the more you get discerned, the more assertive you will feel in your ability to provide best possible care and support for your loved one.

Dealing with Cat Allergies

It is no longer an issue why cats are the most sought-after pet around the world. There’s about roughly more than 50% of all households own dogs and cats in the United States alone. Even though cats are loved animals, they can be harmful as well in some ways. Cat allergies are one of the common forms of allergies. In the past statistics have shown that more than 10 million people in the United States alone have allergic reactions to cats, their fur in particular.

Dander is the biggest cause of cat allergies. Dander is the tiny scales shed from the skin and trap of the cat fur or hair. It is a dust that is produced by the body of the cat. Though dander can infuriate your skin, it can get into your immune system as well, resulting in a range of indications and just about immediate allergic reactions.

Home Remedies for Asthma

Asthma is a very widespread respiratory disease that attacks no age limits. Asthma affects the trachea and bronchial tubes by becoming inflamed and plugged up with mucus. This causes the airways to narrow, hampering the amount of air going into the lungs, and makes it very hard to take in air. Asthma can happen in any person but is very common in children and young adults. The usual symptoms of an asthma attack are coughing, wheezing, tight chest, difficulty in breathing.

Home Remedies

There are several home remedies for preventing asthma. For instance, follow these steps; mix up few leaves of holy basil with honey and consume them every morning. It is an effective medication to keep asthmatic attacks gone.

As we all know well, honey is well thought-out advantageous in the treatment of asthma attacks. It is allegedly said that if a pitcher of honey is held under the nose of an asthma sufferer and he breathes in the air that comes into contact with the honey, he starts breathing a little bit easy and a tad deep. The effect may last for an hour or so roughly. For the reason that honey contains a mixture of higher alcohols and ethereal oils and the vapors secreted by them are calming and advantageous to the asthma sufferers. Whether the air flowing over it is breathed in or whether it is eaten or in use either in milk or water, honey by and large brings relief to the asthma patients. It moderates accumulated mucus and helps its elimination from the respiratory passageways. Honey firms up the pulmonary parenchyma and thus puts off the production of mucus henceforth.

Dry figs or “Anjeer” help clear mucus from bronchial tubes and are hence a helpful food remedy for asthma attacks. Phlegmatic cases of cough and asthma can be cured with success. Dry figs soothe and comfort the asthma patients by draining off the phlegm. Clean three or four dry figs thoroughly with warm water and drenched overnight. The right time to take for dry figs is early morning in an unfilled stomach, along with the water in which they are drenched. This treatment may be continued for about one or two months.

Other remedy that can help treat asthma is a mixture of carrot juice and spinach juice. Simply make a glass of juice by adding 2/3 glass of carrot juice and 1/3 glass of spinach juice. Take it three times a day for asthma relief.

Moreover, make a mixture of 1/4 cup of onion juice, 1 teaspoon honey and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper. This will help an immediate relief from clogging and alleviate breathlessness.

What’s more is linseed or Alsi. A decoction made from linseed is considered helpful in treating clogging in asthma and to put off repetition of attacks. At the same time; linseed poultice should be put on externally at the lung bases for alleviating internal clogging.

Teaching the asthma victims about breathing exercises, which can help stop an attack in its tracks is other home remedies for asthma that focus on prevention. By and large, the harder you breathe when you feel an attack coming on, the more the airway narrows. Such exercises are available from organizations like the American Lung Association or through pulmonologists who focus in treating asthma.

Exercise is another thing that helps lessen asthma attacks but you should start little by little. A daily routine of exercise, like walking for about half and hour to an hour a day can help lessen attacks and is a great prevention strategy either. In the event that you are idle to do exercise, start by taking short walks at a measured pace, perhaps no longer than ten minutes at most. While the weeks pass by, add a little time each week to your day by day walking regimen. Asthma victims by mistake think they can’t exercise, but research shows that work outs may be one of the most helpful ways to slow down prevent frequent attacks.

The Sites I Am Following Day-to-Day

From the time I got to know how the internet works, at the age of 16 --- that was back in high school days, I was already inclined of chatting and searching what's new and what's in and of course reading is my tool of discovering those new things that has come to life.

First off, my yahoo id and my yahoo messenger account. The fact that I was overspending money for an anonymous chat and web surfings alone. As a studious student before, I tend to open librabry sites such as yahoo, google, and wikipedia.

As time adds flavor to the technology, a lot of social networkings came out in the internet. And as such, I had my first account in friendster in the year 2005. Next to my list of social networking is facebook.

But of course, jobs and more jobs to select from are my prime concern as I get my knowledge from school. Sites that I am affiliated with that I am hoping to provide me good job in the near future in or out of the country are jobstreet.com, mytrabaho.com, bestjobs.ph -- for local and some other international jobs. Middle East job portals that I am affiliated as well are naukri.com and bayt.com.

And as a fresh, starter blogger-- I always come to the net and see for my blog and update it everyday as my tutor told me. And of course, I keep on opening my tutor's sites. I also write for her blog and guess what I am paid for it!

Right now, I am blogging for a friend and waiting for some other company to approve me. Hope I will be accepted to be a writer...because writing for me is a passion eversince I knew how to write ABC and hopefully these sites I am following day-to-day will help me in a way.

Make Your Child Understand

As parent to any kind of child, it is never an easy task for every mom and dad (especially when only mom left). For the first time parents, for sure this is going to be a hard responsibility. There are worries that parents usually think about that sometime lead to mismanagement of their kids.

1) At first, if the kid is unwanted (got pregnant without plans have a baby) and so mentally kid has already affected on it. Though it does not really show on the physical appearance of the child but somehow mentally when the child has grown up, something is missing in his personality.

2) If both parties (mom and dad) of the child are financially unstable, then it could lead to a big problem in the whole family. The kid will possibly be get malnourished due to lack of vitamins and minerals and foods to intake.

These are just some of those worries of new and single parents that might come out raising their children. But no matter how hard it is, always remember these things that you can bring to the child's mind;

a) Raise him in a practical way

b) Communicate with your child as if they are already old

c) Do not spoil them with what they are asking

d) Make them understand why he can not have certain thing

e) Let him make mistakes and learn things by himself

These are just things that will possibly make your child understand how life is. Be with them and guide them all the way.

Hope this can help somehow to new, single parents. If you feel the same or you think something is wrong with my post, please feel free to leave a comment.

Best Alternative Medicine

Last year November 2007, my bestfriend's mom was suffering a severe sickness of her backbones and to all over her body. Thought at first it was only a bad air inside her body but as I was seeing her in pain, she was really admitted in the hospital. Doctors said that she was having this severe osteoporosis at the age of 58 since she personally runs her farm of bananas and do the cleaning of weeds, etcetera.

After a week of staying in the hospital, she was released with so many prescriptions to be taken. But then, my bestfriend's Aunt (sister of her mom) referred her to a certain Korean bed that said to heal any kinds of disease. And so, she's a little bit desperate at that time and she grabbed the opportunity of taking the treatment session.

This Korean bed is called Nuga Best bed. This is being made with a Korean inventor in year 2002 and thanks God, Koreans bring these beds throughout the world for having a free treatment service for all the young, old-aged, bed riddened and for all walks of life.

After a month, my bestfriend's mom became better and better until now because of using the Nuga Best bed and of course taking her medicines prescribed by her doctor. What's the best thing here on Nuga Best is that, it is an alternative medicine-- there could be no side effects if you are drinking at the same another synthetic medicines.

But of course, as my bestfriend's mom tried the Nuga Best bed, I too try out myself to test the quality and effectivity of this miracle bed as other say. On my first day, I really got nervous. Lying on the bed with something that massages on your back, it feels a little bit discomfort but it will not be as bad as it is from your first tryout. But after a 40-minute free massage bed treatment, the feeling was really really good. It was so awesome...

And now, since my bestfriend's mom is back to normal she still keeps on coming to Nuga Best to maintain a good blood circulation that Nuga Best brings. And of course, I too come everyday for a treatment even if I feel not that severe, Nuga Best still helps my immune system energized and boosted.
